There is a lot to catch up on since our last post. We promise to be better about sending videos and updates.
Almost a year ago we purchased a beehive. About four months later we purchased another hive – two hives are better than one, right?!? But…being novice beekeepers we didn’t realize one of the hives had a screen on the bottom of a box and when it dropped to 5 below this winter they all froze to death. We were back to one box. Then we got a call about a swarm of bees in a bush. That is a story in itself about why and how bees swarm. Anyway, we were able to get the swarm in a box and bring it back to our home. This Spring the bees were very busy gathering nectar and last week we extracted our first honey from the hives. Out of seven frames we got eight quarts of honey. You will see the process in the video! Enjoy
